BACK IN THE STATES
February 20th, 2008 We’re back in the US of A, after an amazing and oppressively frigid two weeks in Canada. Thanks to everyone who made it out to our first-ever Canadian headlining tour. You guys made it totally worthwhile, despite the weather. We’ll have to make it happen again soon. We spent Monday doing a photo shoot with an amazing photographer, Dustin Rabin (you should check out some of his stuff), that ended on the shore of Lake Ontario. It was absolutely freezing. I’m still waiting for my toes to thaw. Unfortunately, the weather in Grand Rapids last night, and Cincinnati today, aren’t gonna make that possible. Oh well. You might be thinking, “You So Cal boys are wusses.” And to that I say, “Yes. Yes, I am.” Whining about the weather aside, this has been a fun little run. It’s a shame it’s almost over. The spring is coming soon, and we’re looking forward to heading out with Circa Survive and Pelican. Tickets are going fast so get them while you still can. We’ll have more info on how to get tickets on our myspace and right here at the alchemy index site, tomorrow. Since it’s been so cold, we’ve been spending our downtime inside, rather than wandering around. We’re pretty hooked on the show Ninja Warrior, creating Mii’s, late-night movies on the bus (Rambo was the last one), and reciting Longmont Potion Castle phone calls ad nauseam. Good times. I’m hooked on the Emily Haines record, just finished reading “God Save the Fan” by Will Leitch, and just started “A Short History of Nearly Everything” by Bill Bryson, all highly recommended. ive just noticed something. Riley mentioned reading a book by Bill Bryson, who you may know is a writer who has mainly dealt in the subject of travel. well, his first such travel book documented his journey through small-town America, and was titled THE LOST CONTINENT. and im just wandering whether this was the inspiration for the title of the rather brilliant third track on the Water Disc.
theories aside, glad to see you guys survived Canada and that youre having fun. wish i lived in the States so i could see you guys with Circa Survive. still, i live in hope for a Thrice UK headlining tour to be announced soon…

ya glad you guys came back to the “great white north” and you should definatly come back soon!!!! i think you probably picked the worst week or two to tour thru Canada, cuz that cold front basically followed you guys across Canada, i know at the Calgary show we got a blizzard and it was -32 degrees Celsius…which is pretty damn cold….even for us Canucks!!!!

There’s no way you had more fun than anyone at the intersection cause I was there and I nearly shat myself it was such a good concert. Sorry dude, but you can’t have had a better time that I did. Adam - true that. as for me, I bought the Red Sky EP in a store (found it somehow at a store in Texas!), and I let a friend borrow the CD and it disappeared somewhere in transit. still have the case, just no actual disc. I was a little sore about that, I’ll tell you. I did, however, get the chance to rip it to the itunes library, so not all was lost.
got 2 tickets for April 16th and then May 28th today. nice of you guys to swing by SoCal twice, now I get to see you right near the beginning and right near the end of the tour. :) should be interesting.

speakingof the spring tour, i found it very odd when i learned that Pelican was an instrumental metal band. how did an instrumental act manage to get on tour with not only thrice but circa survive as well? such a cray mix. it will be quite a trip to see (which im totally stoked about!)
