A LITTLE PRE-TOUR VIDEO UPDATE
April 8th, 2008 In lieu of another blog post, we figured it was time to switch things up and try a video update. We’ll try to do a few of these–in addition to your regularly scheduled blog and photo posts–during the upcoming tour just to change things up a bit. We’re just a week away from releasing Vols. 3 & 4 (Air & Earth) of The Alchemy Index, and 8 days away from the start of our headlining tour with Circa Survive and Pelican, and we’re excited to hit the road again. We’ve been spending our time at home getting ready, rehearsing, and cultivating facial hair. Hope you’re all well, and we’ll see you very soon. |

i love the video blogs! please keep them going.. so funny story.. the first time through the video i tried pausing it on the board of songs like 20 times before i finally gave up and let it play through.. only to find had i waited about 2 seconds more i would have heard everyone yell and the “they have pause buttons” comment.. that was great :)
i can’t wait, one week until new Thrice :) (also worth noting.. lars and the real girl come out on dvd the same day.. yay!)

By the way, does anyone agree with me that The Sky Is Falling’s first line in the chorus is “The sky is falling and no one will live for eyes to see; The sky is falling and no one will care as long as it lands over sea”??
I can’t make out EVERYTHING else in the song but I’m getting the impression it’s about global warming, and Dustin singing as the scared protanganist (who mentions something about his baby girl… reference to Sailor?? =]) and how he is frustrated with people’s lack of caring for looking after the planet, hence the line “no one will care as long as it lands over sea”, telling that as long as the affects dont damage people’s lives on land, no one will pay attention.
Not sure if that’s all at all right, but in would make sense being on the Air disc. BTW I love the whole song, especially the fast hand claps. Can’t wait to see how you pull that off live :D I guess the crowd will help!

yeah itll definitely be good. also i think the end of the second part of the chorus is “and no one will care as long as it lands overseas”, which makes sense because the song doesnt necessarily have to be about global warming but world issues in general and peoples tendency to not care about them as long as those issues dont affect them or their nation directly. but i digress.

I’ll admit, I tried to pause to see the setlist, but it came out blurry every time. I just wanted to see whether or not they’d be playing “For Miles,” because that’s my favorite Thrice song and I don’t want to get my hopes up if they’re not going to play it. I know it’s been played a lot on their recent tours.

“A samurai that’s lost his job” I couldn’t help but laugh. Anyways, thanks for the video! It sure is a nice change of pace from the standard blog. The 10 alchemy index video’s were sweet, but I really like how this was more in the style of the “if we could only see us now” DVD. One more week till greatness and 8 more days till i see my first Thrice show since warped 2003. SO EXCITED!!!

Feel free to correct/add on what you think is right. At parts I think “hate” is actually “haze”. Not only do I think I hear it at the end, but it would fit a bit better with the air theme.

Riley, I totally know what you mean with the beard thing. I’m 20 and have maybe 15 hair total on my upper lip…it looks dirty if i let them grow for about a month…genetics be a cruel mistress. Anyways good luck with the hair i guess…Oh yea and the tour.

im excited about hearing the live versions of these songs. i remember seeing you play Digital Sea live and it was amazing. the live version actually made a much better single than the recorded version because the chorus was so fun and bright
i tried pausing the video on the set list, but i couldnt get it to work without the image being super blurry, however im pretty darn sure i saw “firebreather.”
oh, and yall are a funny group of guys. and teppei, you really do look like a bum samurai, and before Vheissu was released was obviously when you were at the peak of your samurai career (long hair was awesome!). dustin, youve never really tried to grow your hair out, have you?
