April 8th, 2008 Sorry I haven’t posted in forever. A 16 month old will do that to you a little bit, but still, sorry. Nothing to much going on except getting ready for tour which you can see in the previous videoblog, or, maybe you internet people call them vlogs? Is that proper? I don’t know. I watched Lost until they did that big reveal thing about Claire and Jack’s dad, and then I gave up. I’ve heard it’s gotten better though.

Aww, I grew up on Pixar! It’s good to know that they’re not just collecting dust after my generation outgrew them. I’ve gotta say, Monsters Inc. was probably my favorite, though I had quite the obsession with Toy Story as a kid. Never seen a Pixar I didn’t like, mind you.

i listened the crap out of the OC Register acoustic version of Moving Mountains, but the album version is like, way better than i could’ve imagined. dustin’s vox on it fit the theme/message of the song so well, and there’s so much going on musically in the song too.
i just love how it sounds like it was recorded in like a coffee shop or something. its so accessible and humble.

Air is easily my favorite of all 4. The Sky is Falling may be there best work ever. A Song for Milly Michaelson is also amazing. Earth I have to say is bad ass as well. I thought Silver Wings would be my fav sonnet by far but Child of Dust is rivaling it. The part at the end with dirt and the heart beat, are you kidding me? So sweet! Also, I never noticed till now that on Come all you weary that Dustin is reading something in the background at the beginning. Maybe the verse from the bible that its inspired from?

i think why it was so hard to wait is because we had fire & water, yet knew that was only half of the project. i’ve been feeling like something’s missing all this time.

I think as for the first release of AI, Fire was my favorite.
Not that I think that Water by any means whatsoever was less great, it’s just that the musicial style in Fire is the music I like to listen to. I like the heavier stuff. I just think that people kind of overlooked Fire.
But I am very much excited for the other releases.
Oh, and one thing that I was thinking about how they released them
Fire was vol. 1 and Water was vol. 2
Air is vol. 3 and Earth is vol. 4
For some reason, it is weird to me that Earth comes after air because I always thought of it as “Fire, Water, Earth, and Air”
But then I was thinking that the former of the volumes is the more “conventional” type of music. The more familiar I guess. It gets us warmed up for the second disc, the more progressive style.
I don’t know if that made any sense at ALL, but whatever.

Ok, as far as sonnets go: Child of Dust is my favorite one, possibly even favorite song ever (the ending is by far the best way to end the song and this project). Kings Upon The Main is my favorite lyrically.
Album Wise: Still need to listen to it more to decide what songs I like the most, but one thing is for certain and it’s that this is the greatest set of discs i’ve ever had an eargasm to.
To put it more effectively at how amazing this is, As The Crow Flies is my least favorite song of the 12 yet I think it’s great.
Now as far as the rip… as you can tell I caved in. I will however be at best buy getting the CD as soon as it opens up as Thrice deserves it, since IOS i’ve yet to miss getting a Thrice CD the day it comes out, I want to own it, album art I know will be great… and I could go on but i’d rather stop typing and go eat.
Way to go Thrice! You’ve taken me from a hardcore/rock only music lover when I bought Identity Crisis to something so much more over the course of your career. I can’t thank you enough for expanding my views of music and you guys have for years and will forever be my favorite band. I love you guys!

This is absolutely the best album(s) of 2007 and 2008 both lyrically and musically. Thrice is definitely ahead of all the others. I caved because I just couldn’t help. It’s been driving me absolutely banana sandwich since they released the first vid of the alchemy index with the preview of silver wings. To be honest thats the reason I downloaded it…I absolutely love that song for many reasons…It’s so refreshing to listen to music that is not only good but is inspirationally both mentally and spiritually. I’ll be at best buy Tuesday when they open to pick it up without a doubt. I’ve been trying to tell everyone about these albums…absolutely amazing…I would hope that thrice does not come out with another album for awhile because they deserve the break to spend time with their families and by these records alone anything they put out from here on out; concept or not will be well worth the wait….bottom line family has to come first…I’m still listening to vheissu just about every day. I bought multiple tickets for both nights @ THE HOB in Anaheim just to see them preform these new songs. I love circa survive and have seen them every time they come out but this time I’m going for Thrice…So looking forward to those shows…Kudos and all that Jazz with this new record it’s amazing…hope all is well (thrice) with your health and families….

I’d have to say job very well done. I caved and downloaded it. I’m excited to pick up the real cd on tuesday though. I’m really like Digging My Own Grave. It’s very Tom Waits. If Thrice’s next album was “Thrice - Ballads,” I’d be cool with that. The whole thing is amazing though so I commend you on a releasing a beautiful record.
Oh, and I can’t wait for the vinyl. I’m hoping for a 4×10″ package. That would be awesome. But either way, I’m hoping they release each element on a different vinyl, like they did with the cd. I hope to hear more about it soon. Thank you guys again.

“A Song for Milly Michaelson” is…wow.
I listened to the Air disc today on the way to work and must have listened to that song like 10 times.
Then I looked up who on earth Milly Michaelson was and Wikipedia told me. Such incredible lyrics.
I haven’t heard a song as beautiful as this one in a long, long time.

I read “The Road - Cormack McCarthy” a few weeks ago on a plane. I cried for like 15 mins at the end. I like the size of a linebacker with a full beard and I wept. The woman next to me seemed shocked.
It’s an amazing book and deserved to win the Pulitzer Prize.

Just the cd in the mail - can’t wait to hear it. You guys were on at the Soundwave Festival in Perth last year and I caught you guys on a whim. Best whim I ever whimmed. Not only were you the highlight of my day (surpassing Deftones who I bought my ticket for) but you joined a very small list of bands that I know will continue to push music forward.
I pre-ordered the cd and didn’t realise the shipping to Australia cost more than double the cost of the disc alone. Stupid MUST BUY THRICE ALBUM NOW brain (review your orders kids). BUT - all is good because this weekend will be iced with Thricing (don’t make it gross people, just a play on words).
Ok - note to self, ease off the caffeine.
